Planning for a Happier and More Prosperous Pinckneyville Community began in 2007. It proposed- training for emerging job opportunities; a new hospital for sustained quality health care; a new high school to improve the education provided to our residents; a new expressway and west bypass to stimulate our economy; facilities upgrades at Pyramid State Park to increase outdoor tourism; improved land use planning; retail sector planning and stimulation of increased tourism; development programs for our future leaders; and an organization to help fund and stimulate certain of these initiatives. The Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to revisit that vision, consider our progress and the changes around us, and possibly restate our goals. More than 20 leaders in Pinckneyville’s education, business, church, agriculture, and professional spheres are participating in this monthly meeting. The Foundation was born from that 2007 strategic planning effort as were all our plans for Pinckneyville. We think this planning is ever evolving and important to continue.
