Q: What is a “foundation”?
A: A foundation is a non-governmental entity that is established as a nonprofit corporation or a charitable trust, with a principal purpose of making grants to unrelated organizations, institutions, or individuals for scientific, educational, cultural, religious, or other charitable purposes.
Q: What is the purpose of the Foundation for Pinckneyville?
A: Our goal is to make Pinckneyville a destination –– a community with quality education, state-of-the art healthcare and economic stability. Our job is to make positive things happen in the community, primarily by helping other organizations that are striving to make our community a better, more prosperous place to live.
Q: What does the Foundation for Pinckneyville do to achieve these goals?
A: The Foundation for Pinckneyville serves as a catalyst to inspire and help implement identified initiatives. Our 2011 prospects are improvements at Pyramid State Park, assisting the efforts of the PCHS Education Foundation, and working to upgrade the City Park. We help such efforts get organized, write business plans, conduct fundraising and obtain grants.
Q: How is the Foundation for Pinckneyville funded?
A: Our organization is a charity and we survive and support our projects by means of grants and private gifts.
Q: Is the Foundation for Pinckneyville the same as the PCHS Education Foundation?
A: No. We are two separate entities. The PCHS Education Foundation’s primary purpose is to raise funds to promote, encourage, and foster education in Pinckneyville High School. The PCHS Education Foundation is one of many organizations that the Foundation for Pinckneyville helps.
Q: What organizations does the Foundation for Pinckneyville support?
A: We have helped the Illinois Rural Heritage Museum and the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum get started. We have also worked with Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce, the Friends of Pyramid Park, and the PCHS Education Foundation.

Q: Is my monetary contribution to the Foundation for Pinckneyville tax deductible?
A: A. Yes. The Foundation for Pinckneyville is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt not-for-profit organization. You will receive a receipt of giving for any monetary or in-kind contribution given to us.
Q: Does the Foundation for Pinckneyville allow for Corporate giving?
A: Yes! Corporate giving, also known as corporate philanthropy, refers to the act of for-profit companies donating some of their profits or resources to charity. Donations may come from the company directly, or through a separate, company-sponsored foundation or public charity. Cash donations are not the only type of corporate support. Corporations increasingly prefer to provide in-kind support such as donated goods, services, use of corporate facilities, and access to staff expertise. These are options for in-kind support, and may help to start a relationship with the Foundation for Pinckneyville.
Q: How can I help? Does the Foundation need volunteers?
A: The organization IS volunteers. Our Board of Directors, our Strategic Planning group, Illinois Rural Heritage Museum Board, Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum Board, the Friends of Pyramid Park, the city park initiative, the initiative to support our youth, the PCHS Foundation Board and its campaign to raise $100,000… all these endeavors are being driven by volunteers – folks who care about Pinckneyville, its youth, its future. We urge anyone who would like to get involved in any of these activities to please contact us at pvfuture@gmail.com, or call 571-1171. There is a place in our work for everyone.
